Preparation

Best Wild-Caught Jumbo Shrimp Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb wild-caught jumbo shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Shrimp:

  • Rinse the wild-caught jumbo shrimp under cold water and pat dry. If not already peeled and deveined, do so carefully. For extra flavor, leave the shells on.

2. Marinate the Shrimp:

  • In a bowl, combine olive oil (or melted butter), minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  • Toss the shrimp in the marinade and let them sit for 15-30 minutes (optional, but recommended for enhanced flavor).

3. Cook the Shrimp:

  • Stovetop: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque.
  • Grill/Broil: Preheat the grill or broiler. Grill or broil shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until charred and cooked through.

4. Finish and Serve:

  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and garnish with chopped parsley.
  • Serve immediately with extra lemon wedges and your favorite sides like garlic butter pasta or a fresh salad.

Begin the meal with a delicious appetizer, shrimp cocktail.

Prepare the broth that will enhance the taste. 10 cups cold water, 2 medium carrots (quartered), 2 stalks celery (quartered), 1 large onion (quartered), 1 head garlic (halved), 1 lb. Gulf White Shrimp, 1 tbsp. Kosher salt, ½ bunch parsley, 5 sprigs fresh thyme, 2 bay leaves, cocktail sauce, and lemon wedges.

Combine the broth. Stir together on high heat until a boil, water, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, lemon, parsley, bay leaves, and thyme.

Introduce the shrimp. Turn heat completely off and allow the shrimp to cook for about 3 minutes. Once you notice a pink and the shrimp curl, you’re set. Drain and cool and pick out the shrimp from the broth ingredients. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Finally, peel the shells off and devein the digestive tract with a fine knife. Leave the end of the tail on the shrimp as a handy “handle” for serving the delicacy.

Serve with a Sauvignon Blanc.  A light floral and citrusy white wine will wash down the slightly salty and buttery shrimp majestically!
